Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper making sly songs that addressed issues such as racial and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood her career, she was able to release a number of songs. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical experience. She was a trumpet player. Later, she began the classical and hip-hop genres. In school, she concentrated on journalism and woman's studies. She also studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. After becoming famous via the Internet the song My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually was included on the debut album Yellow Ranger. It also contained songs that were viral such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown New York Bitche$. The song was is directly linked to the album The Awkwafinas Guide to NYC, her guide to travel in 2015. Her resume included both musicians and an author. The singer was seeking for a new career path in acting. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors and Storks. In the year 2018, she was offered several notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, In Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
